Description
I grew up in Cuba and moved to the US when I was 10 years old. Moving at a young age and personally struggling with language barriers, especially when navigating health care systems, drove me to learn languages so I could better communicate with others. I am now fluent in 4 languages (English, Spanish, Portuguese and French). For my medical training, I went to college at Duke University where I also stayed and completed Medical School. After medical school, I visited Colorado and fell in love with the area so I moved to Denver to complete my ObGyn residency at Saint Joseph Hospital. I feel privileged to have a career that allows me to care for women throughout different stages of their lives. The connection and long term relationships that I can form with my patients is one of the reasons that attracted me to this specialty. Within ObGyn, I am especially passionate about high risk obstetrics, reproductive care, and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. Outside of work, I enjoy dancing, playing volleyball, rock climbing, and hiking. Having spent my childhood in a place where the seasons consisted of “hot” and “hotter”, I am just now learning the joys of winter sports and challenging myself with cross country and downhill skiing.
